Welkom

De Belgische Vereniging voor Paleontologie vzw is een wetenschappelijke organisatie die het boeiende onderwerp van de paleontologie toegankelijk wil maken voor een breed publiek.

De BVP geeft zowel professionelen als amateurs een forum waar paleontologisch onderzoek, promotie en samenwerking centraal staan. Door het inrichten van lezingen, binnen- en buitenlandse excursies, studiedagen, tentoonstellingen, het uitgeven van tijdschriften (Spirifer) en boekwerken is het onze bedoeling om actief bij te dragen aan de promotie en verspreiding van algemene en specifieke paleontologische kennis. De Belgische Vereniging voor Paleontologie steunt en werkt actief samen met internationale onderzoeksinstellingen en steunt paleontologische projecten. Er is een nauwe samenwerking met het Koninklijk Belgische Instituut voor Natuurwetenschappen, Het Natuurhistorisch Museum Maastricht (Nederland), de universiteit van Opele (Polen) en het Natuur-historisch genootschap te Santa Cruz (Portugal).

Belgian Palaeontological Association (BPA)

The Belgian Palaeontological Association is a scientific organisation that aims to make the fascinating subject of palaeontology accessible to a wide audience. The association provides both professionals and amateurs a forum with focus on palaeontological research, promotion, and collaboration. By organising lectures, domestic and international excursions, seminars, exhibitions, and by publishing a journal (Spirifer) and books, we aim to actively contribute to the promotion and distribution of general and specific palaeontological knowledge. Our members appreciate the lobbying with public works and quarries to be able to enter sites which are usually not accessible. Close contact and co-operation with other associations is important. The Belgian Palaeontological Association actively collaborates also with national and international research institutions and supports paleontological projects. There is close cooperation with the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Natural History Museum of Maastricht (the Netherlands), University of Opole (Poland), Sociedade História Natural Santa Cruz (Portugal).
